Mark and Angi Polderman — husband-and-wife team, Kalamazoo natives, and lifelong craftsmen — bring complementary strengths to every project. Angi leads the design side, blending her artistic background and attention to detail into each client collaboration. Mark, a master craftsman and builder, brings designs to life with an unwavering eye for quality, creativity, and refined construction.
Together, they have built PCW design/build into a trusted choice for discerning clients who value thoughtful design, skilled execution, and a truly collaborative experience.
Meet Angi
Born in Kalamazoo and raised in the close-knit community of Mattawan, Angi’s roots run deep. Her lifelong immersion in the arts — from classical ballet training to a studying dance at the University of Michigan — shaped her aesthetic sensibility and dedication to discipline.
Today, she brings that same passion to her design work, carefully tailoring each project to reflect her clients’ tastes, lifestyles, and aspirations. Whether designing new spaces or reimagining old ones, Angi’s focus remains: create beauty that functions, lasts, and feels authentically personal.
Meet Mark
Also born and raised in Mattawan, Mark’s love of craftsmanship started early. Growing up on a lake fostered a deep appreciation for nature, which later translated into a hands-on passion for woodworking and building.
After beginning his carpentry training right out of high school, Mark refined his skills both locally and nationally, working in San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Chicago — where he also attended design school.
He founded PCW in 2001 as a fine woodworking company, quickly gaining a reputation for creativity, precision, and uncompromising quality.
As client demand grew, so did the company's scope — evolving naturally from woodworking to full-scale design and construction.
Built Together, Grown Together
When projects became larger and more complex, Angi officially joined Mark, blending design and construction into a seamless service.
Their partnership — both personal and professional — allowed PCW design/build to offer clients a full-service experience: from first sketches to finished homes.
Today, PCW’s work ranges from custom design services to full home and cottage builds, major remodels, and signature custom woodworking projects. Every project is guided by the same core philosophy:
